چکیده

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-four masticator space lesions, 7 chronic infections, and 17 malignant tumors were assessed with H-MR spectroscopy before treatment procedures. The MR spectroscopic findings were compared with surgical and histopathologic results. Localization technique for H-MR spectroscopy was made by a point-resolved spectroscopy sequence at an echo time of 144 ms. Choline (Cho) signals (identified at 3.2 ppm) and Cho signal intensity-to-noise ratio (Cho/noise) were considered as evaluating criteria.

Malignant tumors and chronic infections in the masticator space: preliminary assessment with in vivo single-voxel 1H-MR spectroscopy.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Differential diagnosis between malignant tumors and chronic infections in the masticator space remains challenging. The purpose of the study was to categorize various changes of both lesions by using single-voxel 1H-MR spectroscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-four masticator space lesions, 7 chronic infections, and 17 malignant tumors were assessed with 1H-MR spectros...

Quantitative Proton Single-Voxel MR Spectroscopy in Malignant Breast Tumors at 3T: a Preliminary Study

Figure 1 shows the MR and MRS measurement of a patient with invasive ductal carcinoma. A: On pre-contrast images one lesion showed very dark intensity signal with irregular shape in a centered sagittal slice. The spectroscopic voxel (size, 1.6 × 1.6 × 1.6 cm) is superimposed on the hypointense lesion in the pre-contrast sagittal image. B: The MR spectrum was measured from the selected lesion. T...

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

نقش متابولیتها در تشخیص توده های مغزی با استفاده از طیف سنجی تشدید مغناطیس هسته ای و مقایسه غلظت آنها در بیماران تومورال با افراد سالم

Background and Aim: Brain tumors have remained as a significant cause of morbidity and mortality and are often refractory to treatment. The grading of brain tumor has an important implication in clinical management. Currently, magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is an important dimension in evaluating metabolites and grading brain tumors. The aim of this study is to evaluate metabolites in br...

Effect of voxel position on single-voxel MR spectroscopy findings.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Single-voxel MR spectroscopy is a widely used tool for evaluating brain tumors. Although extensive data are available on the MR spectral appearance of tumors, less is known about the effect of voxel position on the accuracy of single-voxel MR spectroscopy findings. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that the accuracy of single-voxel MR spectroscopy in th...
